43 POUNDS EDIT NEARS COMPLETION

Late 2011 saw the completion of principle photography on Hive Films second feature film - How To Make A Movie For 43 Pounds. Post production has been taking place over the over the following months with re-shoots and editing occuring alongside development of Hive Films other slated pictures - Memorabilia and Acid Daemons. With a visual edit nearing completion test screenings will be held in due course.

Brilliant news for Hive Films as Ruth King wins best actress award for Zombie Undead. The Rojo Sangre festival in Buenos Aires, Argentina awarded Ruth for her role of Sarah in Zombie Undead. As the film was in competition against the likes of Attack The Block the award is great praise indeed. Congratulations Ruth!

Zombie Undead Selected for Buenos Aires Festival

Zombie Undead has been selected for repeat screenings at the Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre festival. This is a distinction for Zombie Undead as the Rojo Sangre is the only specialized and bizarre fantasy film festival held in Argentina. Furthermore Zombie Undead, alongside Attack The Block, is one of only a handful of foreign films in selection at the festival. Established in December 2000 the festival was recently declared of Cultural Interest by the Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires. It festival presents films in fantastic, bizarre, science fiction and horror genres.

August saw the final day of principle photography on Hive Films ‘HOW TO MAKE A MOVIE FOR 43 POUNDS'. The final shot of the shoot was the final climatic scene of the film. Shot in front of an enthusiastic cinema audience Hive Films would like to thank Phoenix Square, Leicester for the kind use of their venue. ‘43 POUNDS' is now in post production.

EM-MEDIA FINANCE HIVE FILMS SCRIPT DEVELOPMENT

HIVE FILMS are proud to announce that EM-MEDIA have granted financial support for the development of ‘MEMORABILIA' and ‘STATES OF HELL'. The funds, allocated by EM-MEDIA from The National Lottery/BFI and Skillset, is for the development of the projects to treatment stage. Included in this funding is an allocation to attach producers to the projects.
EM-MEDIA are the East Midlands and East of England film funding body. They invest in “local talent with global reach" supporting that talent and enabling it to fulfill its potential on the national and international stage. 42 films have been co-financed by EM Media, including ‘CONTROL', ‘THIS IS ENGLAND' and ‘ORANGES AND SUNSHINE'.

Zombie Undead sold to France and Scandinavia

HIVE FILMS are pleased to announce that Jinga Films have sold the Scandinavian and French rights for ‘ZOMBIE UNDEAD’. Sales agents Jinga Films confirmed today that Zombie Undead has sold to CCV Movies in Scandinavia and Elephante Films in France.
Speaking of this, Hive Films director Rhys Davies says: ‘This is amazing news. Selling to METRODOME in the UK was merely the beginning. To see releases of ZOMBIE UNDEAD in worldwide territories is fantastic.'
The distribution deals were negotiated for JINGA FILMS by Head of Acquisitions, Julian Richards and Sales and Acquisitions Lead, Rosana Coutinho. JINGA FILMS are experts in the fantasy and horror genre and continue to push Zombie Undead to market worldwide. Negotiations are continuing with furthur European and worldwide territories.
Release dates for both territories are to be confirmed.

ZOMBIE UNDEAD SELECTED FOR SAN FRANCISO FESTIVAL

Zombie Undead has been selected for the opening Saturday of the Another Hole In The Head festival. After the success at Fantasporto in Portugal ZU heads across the Atlantic to San Francisco. The 8th Annual Another Hole in the Head is presented by SF IndieFest, which will also present in 2011 the 13th Annual SF Independent Film Festival and the 10th Annual SF Documentary Festival. The genre festival drew over 5000 people in 2010 and received great press. Hole in the Head presents the finest in contemporary horror, horror-comedy, sci-fi and dark fantasy with a collection of films from America and abroad, all the mayhem that fits on a celluloid print.

METRODOME TO UNLEASH THE ‘ZOMBIE UNDEAD’ IN UK AND EIRE!

HIVE FILMS are delighted to announce that METRODOME DISTRIBUTION have picked up UK and Eire rights for ‘ZOMBIE UNDEAD’.
Jezz Vernon, Head of Distribution for METRODOME says: ‘We are excited to have acquired the rights to Zombie Undead and warmly look forward to working with Rhys as we approach the release.’
Speaking of this, his debut feature film, Rhys Davies says: ‘All we had at the start was the vision of producing a high quality feature film and a mad-keen enthusiasm for classic British horror. Securing this distribution deal vindicates the dream. HIVE FILMS and everyone involved with Zombie Undead is delighted to be working with METRODOME, a distributor keen to support British independent films.’
ZOMBIE UNDEAD will be released on DVD and VOD from May 2011.
The distribution deal was negotiated for METRODOME by Head of Acquisitions and Production, James Brown and Head of Business Affairs, Kate Edwards, with director/producer Rhys Davies and actor Christopher J.Herbert handling negotiations for HIVE FILMS.

Hive Films Wins Award

Creative Leicestershire have celebrated the end of their 6-year bursary scheme for creative businesses with a final award given to Hive Films as the business with the most potential to develop and a proven history of innovation. The award of £1500 was presented to Hive Films Rhys Davies at Phoenix Square.
' "Winning this award is a validation of the dream that started Hive Films - to produce feature films for worldwide distribution. The award enables Hive Films to expand their professional equipment to facilitate our high quality feature film production and to enable us to continue to compete at an international level." said Rhys whose first feature film Zombie Undead goes on general release in May.'
